Об альбоме (сборнике)

It is long, this country ... - mostly north. (Rolf Jacobsen)
The manner in which tunes jazz musicians play solos over. It will be good melodies on durable texts. Jazz pioneers brought song material from his time. Often from Broadway productions, as well as from movies and musicals. Some Day My Prince Will Come for example, comes from Walt Disney's Snow White from 1937 (!) While Judy Garland immortalized the Somewhere Over The Rainbow in the cartoon The Wizard of Oz from 1939. But these musicians lived in New York.
The Norwegian jazz trumpeter Tore Johansen has done the same. But he lives in Bodo. He has not Manhattan's famous skyline in the neighborhood, nor the silhouette of the neon-colored theater ads in Times Square. But what he has, northern Norway. Land to the north. The blue landscape, northern lights, wind, sea, mountains and the endless northern Norwegian horizon.
In this fresh and sometimes inhospitable landscape is home to strong people, and some of them bearing the standard songs. Or amazing show as they are called in our time. They will probably be standard tunes in the future. In Tore's world, where he makes some of our finest jazz musicians meet the beautiful northern Norwegian ballads, there is a hot fusion that sparkle in both blue and soft simultaneously. Not boastful and apple handy, but slowly, and was respectful to the northerners may be in the face of strong nature.
It is a very special atmosphere of NORD, Tore Johansen's tenth album in its own name. Only 33 years old, he played with all, well documented in a wide variety of records and tours worldwide. With the release NORD marks Tore and Inner Ear, the inspiration equally from the close that the distance abroad, and the beads show home provides as much inspiration as the instrumental music from abroad. It is no less because of that jazz. But it is closer to us.
Tore Johansen do not go across the pond for music. He found the future of the North Norwegian standard tunes at home. When one of the leading young jazztrompetister make their versions of the excellent songs for giants such as Eric Clapton, John and Lars Bremnes, Terje Nilsen, Petter Dass and Tove Karoline Knutsen, there is magic.
